TRAILS
Trailwork Opportunity November 7, 2010Arizona Xterra Club (a 4x4 club). is doing a trail cleanup at Table Mesa recreation area (I-17 and Table Mesa Rd) on Nov 6th, 2010. There will be many different groups at the cleanup: 4x4 clubs, ATVs, UTVs, hikers, radio-controlled enthusiasts, etc. Also, there will be representatives from BLM on hand as well as the volunteer organization called OHV Ambassadors. It would be really cool if the guys and girls from MBAA could also join us on that day. The area really needs our help. Trail points would count towards the 2011 series! April 24th - Patagonia Trails DayOn April 24, the Arizona Trail Association teams up with the town of Patagonia to host work events at both the Temporal Gulch and Harshaw Road trailheads (see event listed above for details on Harshaw Road trailhead work), and complete a needed signage project to direct trail users through Patagonia to the trailheads.
The ATA, the Mountain Empire Trail Association (META) and the Patagonia Area Business Association, among others, sponsor Patagonia Trails Day. Interactive displays by the partnering groups, trail walks, bike rides, birding walks, a walking history tour of the town, trail work projects, and an overnight camp-out are planned. Bring the family, celebrate the 40th(!) anniversary of Earth Day and explore historic Patagonia and its trails.
If youÂ’d like to volunteer to help with ATA activities (staffing our table at base camp, helping with the work events or other miscellaneous duties), please contact Terri Gay at editor"at"aztrail.org. |

Arizona Trails 2010 PlanArizona State Parks is preparing to start the planning process for the Arizona Trails 2010 Plan. The purpose of this plan is to provide information on trail use, preferences, satisfaction etc and provide recommendations to Arizona State Parks and all agencies in Arizona in their management of trails. This plan also guides the distribution of the 4 trail grant programs administered by Arizona State Parks. This new Plan will supercede the current 2005 Trails Plan available at www.azstateparks.com/partnerships/planning/planning.html). |

The BLM in Wickenburg is looking for your input.Contact Dave Konopka for more details and maps of the area proposed. The Town of Wickenburg and the Bureau of Land Management will soon be developing a master trail plan for the region centered on Wickenburg. The Wickenburg Conservation Foundation is starting the process by producing a preliminary plan for about a 25 mile radius around Wickenburg, and we would like to find out the trail preferences of the mountain bike community. |
